I Never Choose the Fandom Life

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life gripped me tight and didn’t let go like a Whomping Willow.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life broke me free from my mundane existence and ordered, “Don’t wander off!”.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life taught me to shoot holes into a wall when bored.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life pulled me aboard the Knight Bus in the middle of the night.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life promised me all of time and space that I couldn’t resist.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life caught hold of me and said, “Allons-y!”.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life took me for a joyride in a TARDIS.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life kept me up at midnight on my birthdays awaiting the friendly Giant.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life opened the Pandorica showing me a better version of myself.

I never choose the fandom life,

The fandom life dragged me to 221b Baker Street, and I simply could never leave.

American Horror Story: Coven Teaser Trailers

0

Image

The American Horror Story franchise has done it again. The creeps, the thrills and chills are back to make you scream with terror, and this take they have raised the ‘stakes’. Yep, I am referring to the latest upcoming season that revolves around a Coven.

Known for its recurring cast and season-long plots, American Horror Story really seeps into the deep dark recesses of your mind, and before you know it you are transfixed, with wide unblinking eyes and an incoherent scream escaping your lips occasionally.

Keep your blankies close to hide under, and a few paper bags to breathe into cos the witches are coming to get you. Or rather get to you, whichever happens first.

The first teaser trailer is a combo of the first three teasers, and the second video is the fourth and latest teaser released.

Shocker, Shocker: Ben Affleck to Play the Invincible Batman

Yes, this is no joke, and I am sure that the whole of Geek-verse is in shock and filled with mixed feelings over this news. I usually keep my aggressive violent psychopath-like tendencies under check (finally got the hang of that), however, this news calls for a break of all restraints.

Ben Affleck is alright, and he did a brilliant job with Argo, however, I am not sure that he can pull off playing the glorious and invincible superhero who makes the Avengers like a pack of tame choir boys, AKA the Batman. Lets see how its going to play out, there are still a couple of years for the movie to hit the theaters, maybe we can learn cope with this by then. Christian Bale, we will miss you, quite terribly.

Movie Review: The Conjuring

1

Image

Rating: 4 1/2 /5
The Conjuring has all the markers of a brilliant horror flick, and the ‘based on a real story’ tag line does nothing to soothe the chills that travel up and down your spine. Right from the first frame of the movie, The Conjuring will grip your nerve endings and keep sending incessant shockwaves through them for the next 96 minutes.

The Conjuring is based on one of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s most horrifying cases. For those of you who do not know the Warrens, they are what we today call ‘ghost-busters’. They have investigated a series of paranormal incidences in their time, and the Perron case in Rhode Island is the one that The Conjuring is based on.

Carolyn and Rodger Perron move into an ancient farmhouse along with their five adorable daughters. However, before they can so much as settle in, the supernatural takes over. Seeing no way around it, Carolyn seeks help from Ed and Lorraine Warren, who then figure out that the farmhouse is a part of a 200 acres property that once belonged to a deranged… okay, I am not giving out more than that.

Image

The Conjuring employs all the old-school techniques that have been used in horror movies since time immemorial, and does so with utter brilliance. The sound effects are magnificent, and the simple yet mystifying performance by all the actors adds to the creepy and deviant aura of the movie. There are some movies that you just cannot miss, so what excuse do you have to miss a movie that comes with this warning:

Christopher Eccleston Returns with Thor: The Dark World

0

ImageWell, with all the uproar about Peter Capaldi being cast as the Twelfth Doctor, and David Tennant being rated as the most loved Doctor, Christopher Eccleston seems to have fallen into the backdrop. Agreed, he played the Doctor for only one season, he was still a marvelous Ninth Doctor.

I always thought that he was a little underrated for his ‘fantastic’ role as the Doctor, and so you can imagine my happiness when I read that he was to return in Thor: The Dark World as Malekith the villain. I think he is going to make a brilliant villain, what with his stunning piercing gaze and strong jawline, Marvel couldn’t have chosen a better villain.

ImageHere is the trailer to Thor: The Dark World; although Eccleston is not featured in the trailer, his absence is made up for by the cocky and magnificent Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Luther‘s Idris Elba. The movie is scheduled to release by the end of October.

Doctor Who Series Eight Premier

2

Okay, I don’t want to get too excited, but I think I am long past that point since I can barely sit straight on my chair, and the reason for that is these pictures that I found!

ImageImageNow I don’t know if these are just art works by a fan, but I am hoping against hope that there is some truth to them, and that the premier of season eight would have something to do with a Shakespearean plot!

PS: I do hope that that is not how the Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver is going to look, as it does seem a little lame. I am sorry; I am so, so sorry!

Goosebumps all over my Brain: The Twelfth Doctor Trailer

0

You know that feeling tingling feeling that you have in your skull when the blood is gushing through your brain (at least that is what I think happens, don’t really know the exact scientific thing that goes on in there), and you feel like this whole wave of goosebumps all over your mind and body? That is exactly how I felt once I had watched this trailer. It is just too marvelous and breathtaking and there are really no words to explain it, so its best that I leave you guys to watch the trailer and feel the feels for yourself!

PS: I am really excited to see Peter Capaldi play the Twelfth Doctor, I was rooting for Huge Laurie, but what the hell, you can’t have everything, can you?
